鑑於金管會新任主委曾銘宗將走馬上任，正值各界期待政府積極擘劃金融整併的呼籲，台新金控31日表示，台新銀行與彰化銀行合併研究計畫時程將放緩，本周五(8/2)彰銀董事會不會提出任何有關合併或合併研究的議題。
金管會新、舊任主委將於8月1日進行交接，陳裕璋去職，由財政部政務次長曾銘宗正式接任，就在曾銘宗正式上任前夕，台新金釋出善意，31日發布聲明稿表示，台新銀行與彰化銀行合併研究的計畫時程放緩。
台新金強調，期待政府為提升金融服務業國際競爭力，而提出金融整併方案時，就台新銀行與彰化銀行合併研議併同納入整體考量，在合理、公開的金融監理之下，期使合併計畫能在合法的程序下執行，達到政府、股東及銀行三贏的結果。
台新金表示，彰銀在本周五(8/2)的董事會議程中，依法仍需要將前二次常務董事會的議事錄列入報告事項，並依例以「洽悉」的方式完成法定程序，但台新金將不會在這次彰銀董事會提出任何有關合併或合併研究的議題。
