伊波拉病毒發現者：我敢坐在感染者身旁

伊波拉病毒肆虐西非，現在傳出美籍醫療人員也遭感染病重，引起全球人心惶惶，擔心疫情擴散。在1976年協助發現伊波拉病毒的比利時籍教授派特（Peter Piot），日前接受法新社專訪表示，這次有史以來最嚴重的疫情是因為當地人民的恐慌，再加上對衛生當局欠缺信任。但他認為，即使感染病毒的人搭飛機前往歐美或非洲其他地區，也不會演變成全球性大感染。

他說：「就算在地鐵上，我也不擔心坐在感染伊波拉病毒的人身旁。只要他們沒有吐在你的身上或其他東西。這種感染需要非常密切的接觸。」

派特目前擔任倫敦衛生與熱帶醫學院院長。他呼籲當局在感染病毒的人身上測試實驗性疫苗，才能讓疫情再也不會捲土重來。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
